On any given day, we may have pets at the kennel who are not regular paying customers. While we are not a rescue and do not seek out these pets, we do our very best to assist our community and their pets in need.
Angel Fund donations offset our costs of caring for:
Journey is one of our long term fosters. She came to us through a rescue when her owner was admitted to the hospital. She stayed with us after it was determined that her owner needed long term care and could no longer keep her.
She is about six years old and we recently had her spayed. She weighed a whopping 124 lbs when she came to us, but we’ve gradually brought her weight to a much more healthy 89 lbs.
She is a super sweet girl and adores people, but she has little to no experience around other dogs or cats. For this reason, two potential adoptions fell through over the last 6 months.
Journey recently started having severe issues with her back end, which became progressively worse. The initial diagnosis was a disc problem, which can be extremely expensive with a low chance of recovery. Our staff gave her so much love and care to keep her happy and supported, but when she lost 90% use of her back legs, we made the difficult decision to let her cross the rainbow bridge.
Dr. Tia Perry came to us for Journey’s passing on January 1st. The majority of our kennel team (and even a former employee) came to shower her with love and be with her as she passed. But an amazing thing happened! Upon examination, Dr. Perry felt certain that this was not a disc issue, rather it was FCE (Fibrocartilaginous Embolism), which has a very positive chance for recovery with physical rehab and acupuncture.
We are committed to doing everything we can to give Journey a chance at recovery. Our team will be doing short rehab sessions with Journey multiple times everyday and Dr. Perry will be coming once a week for acupuncture. Dr. Perry gives us a substantial discount, but this treatment is still expensive.
Any financial help you may be able to give to assist in Journey’s recovery would be greatly appreciated. She will not be available for adoption until her rehab is completed, but please email us if you would like to meet her.
Bonnie is about 10 years old and came to us almost two years ago after her owner could no longer care for her. She had chronic skin issues, was not spayed and had several mass tumors.
After surgeries, spay and extensive treatment through a veterinary dermatologist, she is now in great shape and only needs daily apoquel.
A local rescue took Dino into their network and as they got to know him it was discovered that he has some issues with dog aggression. Given that most fosters have multiple pets, this is how he came to stay with at our facility. We have worked with Dino extensively to try to overcome his reactivity and dog aggression. After one failed attempt at adopting Dino out, it was determined that he is just too difficult of a placement to be able to do so safely.
So Dino is now a permanent resident here at the kennel and will live out the remainder of his days receiving loving care from our staff. One of Dino’s favorite activities is weight-pulling. This is where we harness him up and let him burn off some energy dragging chains behind him. In addition to weight-pulls, he also loves structured walks and play-time where staff engage with him in a safe and constructive manner.
Dino is a senior pet who is approximately 12 years old with special dietary needs due to his sensitive skin and stomach. On a daily basis, he takes Cosequin for his joints, fish oil for his skin, Fortiflora tablets for his digestive issues, and he eats a limited ingredient food containing salmon and brown rice. We are committed to helping Dino have a great life no matter how many days he has left with us.

Buck is another non-adoptable dog who lives with us permanently.
Buck is a sweet and lovable guy with an unfortunate bite history. Oddly enough, he absolutely loves those who he has deemed “his people.” Buck has a very specific approval process he uses to determine who he allows to handle him. It begins when he stops barking at you as you approach his kennel. The next step is to “yes and reward” this behavior. Once you’ve treated him enough and he’s relatively satisfied that you’re a good human, he’ll lean against the fence for some pets. After you complete his approval process, you’re added to his list of favorites and you can begin doing activities with Buck.
Some of Buck’s favorite activities include playing tug and fetch in the yard and chasing around the Jolly Ball. Due to his bite record, Buck must wear a muzzle anytime he is outside our fences, even when going on nature walks on the property. While he’s not necessarily dog aggressive, he only enjoys the company of a very select few dogs. Adoptable Bonnie is his neighbor and closest friend at the kennel.
Buck is an older guy as well, somewhere in the neighborhood of 12 years old. As such, he takes Cosequin for his joints. In addition to his supplement, Buck also needs a poultry-free diet due to his chicken allergy. For this reason, Buck dines on a beef and rice formula and enjoys our allergy-free salmon tuck-in treats.
